Carne Asada Burrito

This frozen burrito is a kind of Tex-Mex and Mexican food that consists of wheat flour tortilla wrapped into cylindrical shape to fully enclose the filling. Tortilla is usually lightly greased and fried or grilled to make it warm and soft. As far as the filling of the burrito is concerned, generally it included just meat and refried beans. However, in the United States, more enriched fillings are found like Mexican-style rice, beans, plain rice, salsa, lettuce cheese, meat, guacamole and sour cream. One such recipe famous in San Diego is Carne Asada Burrito, which we will let you know in this article.

Recipe: Frozen Carne Asada Burrito


For Marinade:

  • 1 tablespoon canola oil, plus more for grilling
  • Juice from 2 limes
  • Zest from 1 orange
  • Juice from 2 oranges
  • 4 cloves garlic, rough chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped (about 3/4 cup)
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 2 pounds skirt steak, cut in half

For Sandwich build:

  • Six 10-inch flour tortillas, heated
  • Cilantro Pesto
  • 4 small or 2 large ripe tomatoes, seeded and inner flesh removed, julienned
  • Charred Salsa, for dipping

For Cilantro Pesto

  • 1 cup toasted pumpkin seeds
  • 4 cups fresh cilantro, leaves and tender stems
  • 1 cup fresh parsley leaves
